Strawberry fields forever

The strawberries have arrived in the farmers’ fields around us, and it’s always an exciting time. Fresh Ontario strawberries are the most delicious berries you’ll ever taste. They are so sweet and juicy and 10 times better than the berries from other places you find at the grocery store. I have been watching for them to get ripe, as the strawberry fields are right behind the barn where Peaches lives. When I walk her or ride her down the tractor paths, I can see people picking the berries.
One of the reasons I love strawberries so much is because they remind me of you. When you were two, Pepere and I took you berry picking at the strawberry patch. We had so much fun. You loved picking the berries from the vines and eating them right in the field and you got red strawberry juice all over your face. But that’s the whole point of picking them yourself. You can eat them right off the vine, let juice dribble down your chin and it’s all part of the experience. You laughed when you were feeding them to Pepere and he said “Nom, nom, nom!”
I had some today. Nom nom nom!
