An apple adventure

These photos came up on my Facebook memories this week. Five years ago, we went apple picking at Burnham Market. We had a lot of fun and let you choose what apples you wanted to pick, then we ate them for snacks over the next week. The apple orchards are really close to our house. I can ride my bike there. Or even better, I can ride Peaches as she lives at Maplewood Stables right beside the orchard. There are tractor paths in the orchard and we can ride our horses there.
Last year, Peaches and my friend’s horse Georgia had a big spook when we came across a family having a picnic in the orchard. The horses were surprised to see people with a blanket and baby stroller and a little scared.
There are rows and rows of apple trees and many different kinds. You don’t have to pick your own. You can go into the Burnham Market store and buy already picked ones, but it’s not as fun as walking in the orchard and picking your own.
It would be easy to grab some of the for-sale apples in the orchard when we ride through, but we don’t have to. The horses have their own apple tree by the outdoor ring and it has all they can eat!
