Have you heard of goats? How about a herd of goats? Did you know you were a two-year-old goat herd one afternoon?

When you were two, Pépère and I had you staying with us one fall weekend and we decided to visit Haute Goat. It’s a farm and tourist attraction not far from our house that has goats, of course. It wouldn't be right to call it Haute Goat if it didn't! It has all kinds of other fun animals like alpacas, Icelandic ponies, unusual chickens, babydoll sheep and pigs.

It’s a fun place to visit. Now they have a café where you can buy lunch and a gift shop with things made from goats’ milk such as soap and bath bombs, and cheese, and blankets made from alpaca wool. You can do yoga with the goats, or take an alpaca on a walk and have a picnic. You can also sleep overnight in the alpaca shed or in a yurt, which is a big dome-shaped tent.

We were in luck the day we visited with you as the goats were coming from the back pasture to the barn and we were on the path. They ran all around you and shopped to eat grass, and you got to pet a bunch of them, as well as the big dog that was their protector. The goats were dwarf goats, so just your size.  You were excited to be right in the middle of the herd of goats. We even have a video of that day called Running of the Goats.

Why 17?

For some reason that I can't explain, 17 is a special number in our family. Yes, it's my birthday (February 17) but your mom's birthday...
