Happy Birthday! Is 8 great?

Happy birthday, Sweetheart! Today you are EIGHT! Do you think eight will be great? Does it feel good or bad to have your birthday on the first day of school?

 I hope you got lots of presents and cake and ice cream. I have presents here for you too that I hope you get some day. 

I remember the day you were born. I went to the hospital in Toronto when you were just a few hours old and held you in my arms. I fell in love with you at that moment and knew I’d love you with all of my heart for the rest of life. 

Two days before your first birthday, you weren’t feeling well. You have an ear infection, poor girl, and Pepere and I drove you and your parents to the hospital emergency room two days before so you could get checked out and medicine to feel better. You were feeling much better two days later on your birthday, that was the Labour Day holiday. Your mom and dad, Pepere and I, and you, of course, went to the carousel ride in Markham and we took a bunch of rides on the metal carousel animals. You were a little unsure at first but got to love it and we have videos and pictures from that day. And you knew exactly how to cake smash! We loved watching you dig your little fists into that cake and smush it, then eat the cake and icing. 

We gave you a Bugly Wugly – a big bug with wheels that you could ride around. It had some lights and a storage compartment to store things. You used Bugly a lot as you got older and I’m so happy you loved that toy so much. 

We had a birthday party for you at our house when you turned two. Grandma and Grandpa came, along with Aunt Terri and Uncle Dave. Boop and Rufus were there too – Boop was just a little kitten. We bought you some balloons – two Happy Birthday balloons, and a red, green, blue and purple stars and you loved them! You liked them likely more than the presents. You ran up and down the hall, pulling the balloons behind you. We had a Peppa Pig birthday cake and you loved it! We all wore pink party hats too, as it was a special day all about you. You also got Hamburger on that day. He is the black and white cow Farm Hopper and you sure got to love Hamburger and hopped him everywhere, then coloured on him.

Your third birthday was another great day and we got you lots of balloons then too – ones with flowers and butterflies on them. Great Grandma and Grandpa were there, Aunt Norma and Uncle Les, my cousins Kate, Doug, Kevin and Helene, Pepere and of course, Rufus and Boop. You wore the pink unicorn bathrobe Aunt Norma gave you all day and Grandma gave you a tea set. Do you still have it? Do you have tea parties with your other toys? The cake was beautiful too – it had unicorns on it and was SO yummy! 

I miss you every day but especially on your birthday as I was there from the day you were born and one of my favourite things was to spend time with you on your birthday. I hope today is just as special as you are.
